What does C3 mean on a bearing ? C3 referes to bearing clearance.
Bearing clearance is the gap between the bearing rolling elements and the inner and outer ring shells of the bearing.
The so-called bearing clearance refers to the amount of movement when the bearing inner ring or outer ring is fixed, and then the bearing clearance is not fixed to move radially or axially.
Bearing Clearance Classification:
Bearing clearance can be divided into three groups according to the size.
One group is the normal clearance group (C0), Small clearance group (C2), and large clearance group (C3, C4).
① Under normal working conditions, normal clearance C0 should be selected first;
For example: 6007ZZ single row ball bearing , 6303-ZZ bearings and so on.
② The large clearance group(C3, C4) is suitable for the large interference between the inner and outer rings, or the large temperature difference between the inner and outer rings, deep groove ball bearing needs to bear a larger axial load or need to improve the alignment performance, or need to increase the bearing limit speed and reduce bearing friction torque and other occasions.
For example 6220-2Z/C3 ball bearing, 6317-2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing , etc.
③ The small clearance group (C2) is suitable for high rotation accuracy and occasions which need strict control of the axial displacement of the housing hole and reduce vibration and noise.
Normally speaking, C2 clearance group bearings need to be custom made.
